We refer to the query letter dated 1 March 2000 regarding the article appearing on Bloomberg on 1 March 2000, wherein it was stated as follows :-

• 1. "Telekom Malaysia Berhad ... it plans to list its cellular phone unit, Internet-related businesses and overseas investment arm to fund their operations"
  2. "The initial public offerings could raise as much as 1 billion ringgit ($263 million)..."
  3. "The IPOs, except for its cellular phone unit, are targeted for next year."

We refer to the first sentence above and wish to inform the Exchange that Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has made a general statement of its intention to list some of its subsidiaries and operations in the future. However, no specific plans are in place at the moment.

We wish to also inform the Exchange that the second and third sentences above were mere market speculations and not statements made by TM. TM did not make any reference to the amount of funds expected to be raised by the public offerings, neither were references made with regards to timing of the said public offerings.

In the circumstances, TM is unable to make an announcement as requested by the Exchange.

We refer to the above article appearing on Bloomberg on 1 March 2000, a copy of
which is enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined
sentences, which are reproduced as follows:-
"Telekom Malaysia Bhd. ... it plans to list its cellular phone unit,
Internet-related businesses and overseas investment arm to fund their
operations"
"The initial public offerings could raise as much as 1 billion ringgit ($263
million) ... "
"The IPOs, except for its cellular phone unit, are targeted for next year."
In accordance with the Exchange's Corporate Disclosure Policy, you are
requested to furnish the Exchange with an announcement for public release
confirming or denying the above reported sentences after due and diligent
enquiry with all the directors, substantial shareholders and all such other
persons reasonably familiar with the matters about which the disclosure is to
be made in this respect. In the event you deny the above reported sentences,
you are required to set forth facts sufficient to clarify any misleading
aspects of the same. In the event you confirm the above reported sentences, you
are required to set forth facts sufficient to support the same.
Please furnish the Exchange with your reply within one (1) market day from the
date hereof.
