We refer to your letter dated 17 March 2000 in respect of the following underlined sentences in the abovecaptioned news article appearing on page 2, Nanyang Business Section, Nanyang Siang Pau, on Friday, 17 March 2000: -

"Telekom Malaysia Berhad will be awarded a contract by the Government for the implementation and management of the Government Integrated Telecommunications Network System through a joint-venture with Permodalan Nasional Berhad, the joint-venture company being GITN Sdn Bhd."

We wish to inform the Exchange that Telekom Malaysia Berhad ("TM") has on 29 January 1996 made an announcement to the Exchange regarding the signing of a joint venture agreement with Permodalan Nasional Berhad ("PNB") to implement the Government Integrated Telecomunications Network ("GITN") through a joint venture company which has been duly registered as GITN Sdn Bhd. TM holds 45% and PNB holds 55% of the total paid up capital of RM20 million in GITN Sdn Bhd. A copy of the TM's announcement and its press release dated 29 January 1996 is attached herewith for your easy reference.

We wish to clarify that the above statement appearing in the Nan Yang Siang Pau article was not an official statement made by TM or GITN Sdn Bhd. According to GITN Sdn Bhd, a signing ceremony is scheduled to be held on 20 March 2000 wherein some Government Agencies will enter into their respective network service contracts with GITN Sdn Bhd for the provision of network services by the latter.

The provision of network services to Government Agencies is in the ordinary course of business of GITN Sdn Bhd.

enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined
sentences, which stated that Telekom Malaysia Berhad will be awarded a contract
by the Government for the implementation and management of the Government
Integrated Telecommunications Network system through a joint-venture with
Permodalan Nasional Berhad, the joint-venture company being GITN Sdn Bhd.
