We refer to your letter dated 17 July 2000 in respect of the following sentences which, appeared on page 1 of The Edge on Monday, 17 July 2000 :

"... the government plans to issue licences to enable the provision of third generation mobile telecommunications (3G) services."

"... Telekom Malaysia ... are the front-runners."

and wish to inform the Exchange that the Company has indicated its requirement for sufficient spectrum to operate a nationwide third generation mobile telecommunications that will enable us to provide the full extent of applications and capabilities of the system to the Malaysian customers and global roamers.

The Company will make the necessary announcements in the event that it has been successful in its application for assignment of the said spectrum from the authorities.

17 July 2000, a copy of which is enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined
sentences which are reproduced as follows:-
