We refer to the query letter dated 11 September 2000 regarding the article appearing in the Business Times, page 1 and 24 on Monday, 11 September 2000, wherein it was stated as follows :-

"Also in the pipeline is the IPO of Telekom's wholly-owned subsidiary in Sri Lanka, MTN Networks (Pre) Ltd, which runs a GSM mobile network."

We wish to inform the Exchange that the above is a general statement about the Company's intention to list its wholly-owned subsidiary, MTN Networks (Pte) Ltd, in Sri Lanka. However, no specific plans are in place at the moment.

In the circumstances, TM is currently not in a position to make a definite announcement as requested by the Exchange.

24, on Monday, 11 September 2000, a copy of which is enclosed for your
reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentence
which is reproduced as follows:-
"Also in the pipeline is the IPO of Telekom's wholly-owned subsidiary in Sri
Lanka, MTN Network (Pte) Ltd, which runs a GSM mobile network."
