  • We refer to the article in the Star Bizweek dated 5 March 2005 entitled “Telekom to list unit in Sri Lanka” wherein it was mentioned that Telekom Malaysia Bhd (“TM”) plans to list its Sri Lankan subsidiary, MTN Networks (Pte) Ltd or Dialog GSM on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

TM wishes to clarify that it is currently exploring the possibility of an initial public offering of the shares of its wholly owned subsidiary, MTN Networks (Private) Limited (“MTN Networks”) on the Sri Lankan bourse.

TM also wishes to clarify certain inaccuracies that were featured in the article as follows:

    1. “MTN Networks is the largest mobile telecommunication service provider on the island and has a 40% market share of the Sri Lankan mobile phone market, with some 2 million subscribers.”

    2. “MTN Networks also has a presence in more than 10 countries, which include Ghana, Cambodia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India and South Africa.“
TM will make relevant announcement to the Exchange when appropriate.
