The clarification on the above matter, submitted to the Exchange on 20 September 2001 regarding a Berita Harian Article dated 20 September 2001 refers.

As previously announced, TM has entered into an Agreement with the Government of the Republic of Ghana (GOG) in August 2000 to acquire an additional fifteen percent (15%) equity interest in GT for a total cash consideration of USD100 million subject to the terms and conditions of the Agreement.

In view of further time required for the negotiation process, TM has proposed a final extension of time from the agreed deadline of 30 November 2001, until 19 February 2002 to enable the parties to the Agreement to complete the sale and purchase transaction, in respect of the 15% equity in GT.

TM will announce further developments on this transaction at the appropriate time.
