We refer to the query of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in respect of the following statements in the article of the New Straits Times on Monday, 1 July 2002 entitled "Telekom nominees to replace 4 TRI directors?":

1. "An independent committee is also to be set up to look into Telekom's plan to merge its cellular operator TM Touch with TRI's Celcom."

2. "Telekom's nominees - Khir, Datuk Mohd Munir Abdul Majid, Rosli Man and Lim Kheng Guan - are expected to be nominated and ratified at a TRI board meeting on Wednesday".

3. "They will replace the four directors stepping down - chairman Tan Sri Tajudin Ramli, Lim, Bistaman Ramli and Mohamed Ali Yusof".

We would like to draw your attention to the media statement of Technology Resources Industries Berhad ("TRI") on 1 July 2002 which stated that the above appointments and resignations and the setting up of an independent committee is expected to be considered at a board meeting of TRI to be convened on Wednesday, 3 July 2002.

Accordingly, Telekom Malaysia Berhad is unable to confirm the above statements at this juncture.

We refer to the above news article appearing in the New Straits Times, Business
Times section, pages B1 B1 and B6 , on Monday, 1 July 2002, a copy of which is
enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined
sentences, which are reproduced as follows:-
