The letter dated 20 April 2004 from the Exchange regarding the following news article appearing in The Malay Mail, MailMoney section, page 24, on Tuesday, 20 April 2004 refers:-

"TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd.....interested in acquiring AT&T Wireless Services Inc.'s 33.3 per cent stake in India's Idea Cellular Ltd...."

We wish to inform the Exchange that Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is continuously reviewing available investment opportunities overseas in line with its current international strategy and Idea Cellular Ltd. is a potential opportunity that TM is looking at.

Any new investments overseas would have to be prudently and carefully considered to ensure its strategic fit into the overall Group strategy. TM would certainly make the necessary announcement to the Exchange on substantial investments at the appropriate time.

We refer to the above news article appearing in The Malay Mail, MailMoney
section, page 24, on Tuesday, 20 April 2004, a copy of which is enclosed for
your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentence,
which is reproduced as follows:-
"TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd ... interested in acquiring AT&T Wireless Services Inc's
33.3 per cent stake in India's Idea Cellular Ltd ..."
