On his resignation from the Board of TRI, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Dr. Md Khir bin Abdul Rahman said “My task as a Board member in TRI representing Telekom Malaysia was to pave the way for the start of the business combination process between Celcom and TMTouch. Since the process is ongoing, it is appropriate that I devote full attention to the management of the Group. Now I will be able to oversee the business combination process from Telekom Malaysia Group perspective."

I wish to congratulate Mr. Tan Poh Keat on his appointment to the Board of TRI and as a fellow board member of TM, I have every confidence that with his extensive knowledge and experience in the telecommunications industry, he will be able to contribute greatly to the future growth of TRI.”

Mr. Tan Poh Keat graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and Master of Engineering degree from Auckland University under the Colombo Plan Scholarship. He joined Jabatan Telekom Malaysia in 1962 and has served in various appointments, the last being the Deputy Director General. Subsequently, he joined TM as a Director, Networks Services and retired in 1991. He is currently an independent consultant to a number of local and international companies.
