1. “Telekom may have been informed that the special rights are unenforceable because they were not made public and that there was no shareholders meeting to approve them.”

Telekom Malaysia Berhad ("TM") wishes to confirm the following :-
1. In respect of the first statement, TM has been informed in various discussions, that Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad's ("Celcom") legal advisers have advised that the special rights, if any, may not be enforceable.
2. On the second statement, as part of the ongoing negotiations, TM has requested Celcom to address Deutsche Telekom’s rights, if any, in relation to the proposed business combination.
We refer to the above news article appearing in the New Straits Times, Business
Times section, pages B1 and B7, on Thursday, 12 October 2002, a copy of which
is enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentences
which are reproduced as follows:-
