Telekom Malaysia Berhad ("TM") wishes to announce that, in conjunction with Thintana Communications LLC ("Thintana"), it has agreed to sell its remaining shares in South African telecommunications provider Telkom SA Limited [JSE and NYSE: TKG]

Subject to conditions that are expected to be met no later than 15 November 2004, Thintana’s remaining stake in Telkom SA will be sold to a South African black economic empowerment consortium led by Mr Andile Ngcaba and Women Investment Portfolio Holdings Ltd. ("Wiphold"), advised by Mr Smuts Ngonyama.

Thintana holds a 15.1 percent interest in Telkom SA. Thintana is owned 60 percent by a subsidiary of SBC Communications Inc, [NYSE: SBC] and 40 percent by TM through TM International (L) Limited. Thintana reduced its ownership in Telkom SA from a 30 percent interest to 15.1 percent in June 2004.

Members of the consortium will include Wiphold, a group representing more than 300,000 women; a number of broad-based women’s organizations from all nine South African provinces; and the National Independent Telecommunications Organization, representing approximately 2,000 community service telephone operators with a strong rural bias.

Appropriate announcements to the Exchange will be made upon fulfillment of the relevant conditions to the sale.
