We wish to clarify to the Exchange that Telekom Malaysia Berhad ("TM"), in line with its international strategy, is considering the opportunity to invest in PT Excelcomindo Pratama ("Excelcomindo"). In this respect, we wish to confirm that TM has indicated its interest in Excelcomindo and is currently assessing the feasibility of acquiring a stake in the company.
However, to date, there has not been any firm decision made on the proposed investment and neither are there any firm offer.
We will make the necessary announcement to the Exchange at the appropriate time.
We refer to the above news article appearing in the Star, Star Biz Section,
page 3 on Wednesday, 21 May 2003, a copy of which is enclosed for your
reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentence,
which is reproduced as follows:-
" ... Telekom has made an 'indicative bid' to buy Indonesia's third largest
cellular operator, PT Excelcomindo Pratama."
