Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today announced that the Company has renewed Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa’s contract for another three years effective 1 April 2011. Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani has been the Group CEO since 2008, when TM and Axiata Berhad’s (formerly known as TM International) demerged, and has played a very instrumental role in leading TM through a challenging period in establishing itself as Malaysia’s Broadband Champion and leading integrated information and communications provider. Under Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani’s stewardship, TM has seen a steady and consistent increase in revenue and subscribers base. Among the many milestones achieved under his leadership have been the momentous launch of the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) service, branded UniFi in March 2010. The HSBB roll-out has been one of the fastest in the world in terms of implementation – in a record time of 18 months – and one of the largest in terms of scope, surpassing the Government’s target of 750,000 premises passed by end of 2010. Throughout the last 3 years, Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani has also driven the Company’s performance to reflect an almost 90% increase in profit for 2010 and consistently meeting and surpassing shareholders and market expectations in delivering dividend commitments. The Internet segment also showed sterling growth with Streamyx subscriber base close to 1.7 million as at end 2010. Datuk Dr. Halim Shafie, Chairman of TM said that, “On behalf of TM Board, I am very pleased with the renewal of Dato’ Sri’s contract for the next 3 years. The Company’s performance has been remarkable with promising growth under his stewardship and I am confident that with his proven skills, experience, he will be able to lead the workforce through the Company’s transformation into a more customer-oriented organization in the years to come.” Commenting on the matter, Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani said that he is honoured to have been given the opportunity to continue with his leadership tasks within the Company. “There have been many challenges throughout the past 3 years, but I have been fully supported by an able and competent Management team as well as the entire TM family. I look forward to continuing our work and our responsibilities at hand in driving the completion of our HSBB roll-out; working together with other industry players to meet national aspirations for increased broadband penetration; managing the needs of our stakeholders and delivering value to all our customers. We aspire to become a model corporate citizen by opening up possibilities, transforming lives, empowering businesses and building the nation through connection, communication and collaboration,” he added. “I am honoured to have been given this opportunity to serve the Group for another term as it gives more reason to celebrate our UniFi's 1st anniversary.
