Subject ACCEPTANCE BY TELEKOM MALAYSIA BERHAD OF THE GOVERNMENT’S AWARD ON MALAYSIAN EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM 999 PROJECT
Contents Telekom Malaysia Berhad (“TM”) is pleased to announce today on the acceptance of Letter of Award (“LoA”) from the Government of Malaysia (“the Government”) dated 14 January 2009 for the implementation of Malaysian Emergency Response System 999 (“MERS 999”) whereby TM will develop, supply, deliver, install, test, commission and to undertake the management of MERS 999 for a period of three (3) years effective from May 2007 until June 2010.
The MERS 999 Project undertaken by TM is an Integrated Emergency Response System that will consolidate four emergency service providers under one common platform, provide uniformity and consistency in processing of emergency calls. This platform will create a unified database for emergency services with capability to automate the filtering of crank and prank calls of which will improve efficiency and response time of emergency services in Malaysia. The total cost for the implementation of the MERS 999 project is RM334,050,000.00 (Ringgit Malaysia: Three Hundred Thirty Four Million and Fifty Thousand only).


With the acceptance of the LoA by TM, the parties will enter into a formal agreement (“MERS 999 Agreement”) based on mutually agreed terms and conditions in due course.

None of the Directors or major shareholders or persons connected to the Directors or major shareholders of the Company has any direct or indirect interest in the MERS 999 Project.

TM will announce further details and relevant information upon execution of the MERS 999 Agreement between the Government and TM.
