  • The letter dated 18 February 2002 from the Exchange regarding the following sentences appearing in the above news article on Bloomberg, on Monday, 18 February 2002, refers :-
      1. "Telekom Malaysia Bhd....The country's biggest phone company is among seven companies seeking to buy control of PT Indosat, Indonesia's main overseas operator..."
      2. "...the government will allow it to raise domestic fixed-line call charges by as much as a third from next month."

    We wish to inform the Exchange that Telekom Malaysia Berhad ("TM") is currently not engaged in any discussion or negotiation with PT Indosat. However, it will continue to explore telecommunications opportunities, both domestic and abroad, in line with its regional strategy.

    Sentence No. 2

    We refer to the second sentence and wish to inform that the Ministry of Energy, Communications and Multimedia has make a press statement on fixed line tariff rebalancing today. The press release is attached herewith for the Exchange's information.

February 2002, a copy of which is enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined
sentences, which are reproduced as follows:-
